Mac Barnett is a New York Times-bestselling author of children’s books, many of them illustrated by Jon Klassen. He is a three-time winner of the New York Times/New York Public Library Best Illustrated Children’s Book Award, as well as a recipient of the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award. He was recently appointed by the U.S. Library of Congress and Every Child A Reader as the 2025-2026 National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature.

Mac Barnett is the author of numerous books for children, including several illustrated by Jon Klassen: The Wolf, the Duck, and the Mouse; The Shapes Trilogy; and Sam and Dave Dig a Hole, a Caldecott Honor book and recipient of the E. B. White Read Aloud Award. His book Extra Yarn was also named a Caldecott Honor Book and received a Boston Globe-Horn Book Award. Mac Barnett lives in California.
