“Martina Futbolista” is a perfect book to talk with kids about equality. The protagonist, Martina, shows determination and tenacity as she recognizes her peers’ problematic attitudes. She is also an example of good sportsmanship. I appreciated the diversity depicted in the illustrations as well as the friendship between Martina and Jorge, which is a good reminder that it’s possible to find friends in any situation, good or bad.
