Chris Saunders is an internationally published author, illustrator, and lecturer from the North-East UK. He studied Illustration at The University of Northampton.

Chris works as a writer and illustrator within the field of children’s publishing. He has written an illustrated multiple successful picture book titles to date, including: ‘Wish’, ‘Believe’ and ‘Nowhere’. His work has been published in multiple languages around the world and sold in notable retailers, including Waterstones.

Represented by Astound.us, Chris regularly collaborates with clients on live commercial projects including book covers, education, greetings cards, and creative development for Scholastic, Quarto Publishing Plc, Hachette, Cambridge University Press, Jellycat Ltd, and other notable companies. He has had the privilege to illustrate publications for Flowerpot Press, featuring the five-time Grammy Award winning American blues musician Keb’ Mo’.

Chris’ creative practice is combines both digital and analogue techniques, producing detailed digital paintings that are developed from initial hand-rendered sketches and observations. His work is driven by curiosity, imagination and a deeply rooted passion for illustration and narrative; expressing an honest and relatable interpretation of the world around us.
